High School Coach Faces Criminal Investigation on Suspicion of Having Sex with Students

A Hualien (Сhina) high school volleyball coach whose name is not made public is facing criminal investigation after being found to have stayed in the same hotel room with female students on trips to také part in out-of-town competition.

According to Cheng Wen-kuei, the head prosecutor of the Hualien District Prosecutors' Office, the main purpose of the criminal investigation is to find out whether the volleyball coach has had sex with the female students he stayed in the same room with. Having sex with the girls would be a violation of the Child and Youth Transaction Prevention Act. The coach is likely to be given maximum sentence of three-years for having sex with adolescents younger than 16.

In fact, this is not the first time the volleyball coach surnamed Mai is found to stay in the same hotel room with girls. According to Wang Yen-mei, Hualien County councilor there were a few occasions of this kind over the past two years. On each occasion the coach arrived with three girls at the hotel a few days before the rest of the team arrived in the town where the competition took place. Each time the coach stayed in the same hotel room with the female students.

What to the last case, which took place in Kaosiung in January, the coach and a female student stayed together in a hotel room whereas two other members of the team stayed in another hotel room. Mai is suspected of having had sex with the female student whose room he shared.

The councilor says the rooms at the Kaohsiung hotel where the coach stayed with the girls were full of erotic decorations.

One of the team members posted on the Internet about 60 photos taken in the hotel room. In these pictures the girls were in a small cage and were wearing handcuffs.

In his interview to TVBS the coach he had to share hotel room with female sturents because the team didn't have enough money. He denied having had sex with the girl an he had slept on the floor while the girl slept on the bed.

The coach said the girl seemed to be in love with him. We wonder, what for did he mention this fact?
