Financial Crisis Diminishes Demand For Sex Services in Buenos Aires

Demand for sex services in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina diminished dramatically because of global financial crisis, according to the local newspaper Nacion.

“Sex industry, as well as many other spheres of economy has been affected by global financial crisis. The demand for sex services is very low, this affects financial well being of sex workers and leads to idleness.

According to the Association of Women Prostitutes of Argentina that includes a few thousands of women, the demand for sex services is twice lower in comparison with the time before global financial crisis”, according to Nacion.

Human rights organizations appeal to government to help solve the problems that are now faced by sex industry. These organizations are against fall of prices for sex services, since this leads to low self esteem of sex workers who are often the only earner in the family.”

Half a year ago local authorities officially opened the “red light district” for gays and lesbians. This turned the city into a real Mecca. Every year the capital of Argentine is visited by about half a million of gays and lesbians. Sex services for these person enrich the city treasure with about 1 000 000 million dollars a year. There are hundreds of stores, hotels and clubs for gays and lesbians in Buenos Aires. Last summer there was the first Football Championships for gays, the first one in the history of Latin America. Thousands of people take part in the gay parades in Buenos Aires every year.

In Argentine sex services are allowed anywhere besides areas near schools and churches.
